In October this year, the Cisco NetRiders 2014 competition was held. A student of our Faculty, Piotr Maciąg, took second place at the national stage, thereby qualifying for the international round, which was held at the AGH University of Science and Technology Computer Science Center in Kraków. In the final stage of the competition, the representative of our university achieved 10th place, outperforming over 200 participants from Europe, Asia, and Africa.
The subject matter of this year’s competition focused on wide area network design, VoIP telephony, computer network security, and the development of sensor networks. The competition was intended for participants of the Cisco Networking Academy, which has been operating at Rzeszów University of Technology since 2009 and is conducted by two instructors: Dr. Eng. Marek Bolanowski and Dr. Eng. Andrzej Paszkiewicz from the Department of Distributed Systems, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering. As part of the Academy, courses in computer network design and management (CCNA Routing and Switching) as well as in computer network security (CCNA Security) are offered.
